Getting the trailer home

From the time I paid for the trailer and the time it actually got to come home was a couple of days. I had to wait until someone with a truck could go and pick it up since I do not yet have a truck of my own. I was really excited about it and could not believe I was actually getting the trailer I have been wanting and waiting for. When the trailer finally arrived in the driveway it was hard to believe that I had bought it. It was hard to believe that I had actually turned this dream into a reality. I have to say that it was a pretty cool feeling.

The first thing I wanted to do when I got the trailer was to spend a little time inside cleaning things up. As you can see in the photo below (from the online marketplace listing) there was some funky brown peel and stick tiles on the floor. The tiles were peeling up and all broken or missing. The tile was very brittle and old. One of the very first things that I did inside of the camper was scraping up the old tiles and getting them off of the floor.

I had to leave for work the first day of having the trailer so I didn’t get to work on it very long but I threw out lots of garbage and swept up the floor. It was cold outside and I did not have any of my space heaters so I hung up a heat gun in there to at least warm it up a little bit. The door did not stay closed very well and it kept coming open and letting the cold air in which was a little bit frustrating. After burning a hole in the sleeve of my coat with the heat gun I finally did get to borrow someone else’s space heater for a little while.

This photo (above) shows the trailer floor after I had pulled off all of the old peel and stick vinyl floor tiles. It’s looking better already.

When I had the trailer picked up I was sad to see that the driver did not put the dining room table down and it fell during travel. The table was stuck between the bench seats on the floor and the particle board it was made from got damaged and broken. It was disappointing to see but as you will notice on the left hand side of this photo with the table leaning up against the closet that the bottom of the table is all gross so it’s better to replace it all together anyway.

Right now I am trying to look around and decide what new flooring I want to put in the trailer. I like the look of this Brazillian Cherry laminate flooring shown in the Amazon link above. It’s really pretty but I’m not sure if it will match with the colors that I have going on so far… more about all of that later. Stay tuned.
