go up to the top right of the screen with your little icon and the drop-down menu… go to Activity and then Personal. Once you click that it will take you to a page where you can post status updates like you do on facebook

That is how you post photos and videos, however; videos are basically shorts because they have to be under 12mb in size to be able to upload them.
